Aspereta

7/3/2003 7:04:07 PM | Posted by: Inkey | Post a comment
->Website
Aspereta will be going into closed alpha testing on 7/7. Aspereta combines a visual basic client and a C Linux server (for speed:). The closed alpha testing of Aspereta will only contain around 100 items, 100 spells and 100-200 monsters; however we plan to have many more in the beta phase. There will be four playable classes in the alpha phase however that number is planned to more than double in the beta. The purpose of our alpha test is to test the server and find any major bugs, so to see the true colors of Aspereta, you may have to wait until the beta. The screenshots below don't show too much, because we want to surprise people when the time comes:)

Space Bandits Alpha

->Website
Space Bandits is a space shooter I've been working on for about 3 months. It's a mix of 2D and 3D graphics. I've posted a link to the download below (You need DirectX8 or later installed, and the VB runtime already installed.) Use the cursor keys or joystick to move (keys are not mappable yet), and Insert fires. Also, A ans S strafe left and right. I greatly appreciate anyone letting me know if it runs, and (assuming it does) what kind of framerate you're getting.(It's largely unoptimized.) I also hope to get some feedback/suggestions from you guys to improve it.

Thanks

Tides of Lyenoa

Tides of Lyenoa has just released Alpha 6 Final. Tides of Lyenoa is a Massively Multiplay Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG).

Please help us create a unique and large community. We are arctively creating update patches, new sprites (thats my job), and working out the magic/attacking systems.

The magic system will be rather unique. We are creating a system where magic is rare and hard to learn. It is dangerous to the user, but very powerful. Spells can be created through the usage of our unique "scripting" idea. Magical keywords are added or subtracted to manipulate how the spell is cast.

We are also working on runes, forging weapons, crafting, and many other interesting ideas. Please come and help us out!

The Fallen Dragons - Client Preview

->Website
I'm sure nobody has heard of us, but we've been around a while now. Our artist Sekonretsu recently completed our new main interface. I've been working hard on the new engine and as soon as it's done the alpha testing will begin.

For those who don't know, The Fallen Dragons is a text-based online RPG made in VB. It's similar to Realms of Kaos, but we hope to implement many more features. We have some great minds behind our project and we will be starting plan files soon so you can get a peek at what we're doing. We've already written up pages and pages of history, goverments, etc.

Also, if there are any features you would love to have in it, please e-mail me I'm open to all your ideas and this is the best time to let me know.

->Website
I have just uploaded the new version of my bluescreen video editing program. Written totally in VB. Its not Completely related to VB Games, but could be adapted easily. Would be ideal for cut scenes or fixing up your sprites key colour. It allows you to import/export an avi or a series of image files. Heres a few of the current features:

  • Import image sequences and video files
  • Key out colours to create perfect blue screen footage
  • Basic composition abilities. Load in a background sequence or video file and key the foreground footage over the top
  • Export to Avi and Bmp files
  • Export corrected frame, alpha channel or composited footage/images
  • Actor and Garbage Mattes
  • Saving and Loading of work
  • Heaps of customizable options
  • And Much More...

Download version 1.0 from my site http://www.pointystudios.cjb.net on the VB Programming page.

You can check out an old program I wrote, Sprite Master 2, which is for sprite editing and creation. Also my Binary Resource File Creator v1.2. Both of these are open source and ideal for games. Have a look at them Here

Purple Ogre Adventure Game Maker

Soon to released by Electric Gremlin Ideas! This one's been in the works for a while now, and I feel it's finaly time to spill the beans on it. Purple Ogre is an adventure game creation system, which will allow users to create thier own graphical adventure games, with a console driven command system, similar to old classics like Deja-Vu, and The Uninvited. However graphics and sound are pretty much only limited by what you are capable of throwing at it :) The alpha version release is currently lined up for mid November or so. Downloads availble then.

Fetish Fighters 0.5 Alpha out

10/8/2002 10:14:55 AM | Posted by: brzgames | Post a comment
->Website
I have just released the 0.5 Alpha of Fetish Fighters. This version fixes lots of bugs over the previous versions, and now includes combos, and 'Sexualities' (finishing moves.) I've also tweaked the gameplay a little by adjusting the amount of damage done by attacks. This version should hopefully fix automation error issues, and file not found issues. It also has a key configure utility now. DO NOT INSTALL OVER TOP OF PREVIOUS VERSIONS. Make sure you either delete your old FF, or install this one in a new folder.

I've just uploaded Alpha 0.2 to my website of Fetish Fighters. This version should finally fix the mouse/focus problem the plagued the earlier version. It also uses compressed bitmaps for the characters to shrink the installed size down from 245 meg to 35 meg. It also includes other minor bug fixes.

Emoticon Public Alpha 1.0 Released

8/13/2002 11:40:05 PM | Posted by: Rag on a Stick | 5 comments
->Website
Emoticon, my pet RTS project is finally ready for a public Alpha. To go along with this event, there is also an official Emoticon website, designed by Peter Kuchnio. The Alpha features a fully playable level so you can test out various parts of the game.

Please tell me what you think, the download is quite small (150kb), so all us people on 56k modems have no excuse either.

Work on the game is coming along. We are currently designing the missions that will be in the game (32 are planned) as well as continuing with coding and producing artwork.
