| | | I still have a few things I'd like to do to this, including working on some of the asteroid models. One thing I wanted to do, was what Peter had suggested with the radar, about having it rotate like the game, but I could never get it to where I liked it. So I ended up just making the players blip just point in the direction you are heading, at least for now. Anyways, I appreciate any feedback. Thanks.
| | | I was expecting a shop after level 6.
A bug which needs fixing ASAP is the edge of the map - when you fly from one side to the other things don't appear in the same place.
Also - one of your background tiles has a grey square around it. I thought that this was a blending/scaling bug of some type until I looked at the bmp - which does indeed have a grey square around it ... (tile10.bmp).
| | | Hmm, the 2nd shop isn't set up to occur until after level 7, but it probably should occur after level 6, so I'll change it. I fixed the tile issue. I thought I had all of them fixed. I'm not exactly sure what you mean about the things not appearing in the same place when flying from one side to another though, can you elaborate, or give me an example?
Thanks.
| | | The edges of the map just cut off - things appear and disappear. More annoying is the fact that if you follow something off the edge (like a coin or asteroid) then your ship and the thing you are following will reappear in different places - i'm pretty sure it's possible to be following an asteroid off the edge of the screen only to have it run into the back of you ...
| | | Ok, I see what you're talking about. I can fix the problem with objects appearing behind you, but I'm not sure what I can do about objects just disappearing when they go from one side of the map to the other.
| | | You should try to get it so that you can't see yourself changing edges - items near the left edge should be drawn just off the right edge for example, and the same goes for the background.
| | | Ok, now the flip over effect thing should be fixed, as well as appearing behind objects. Also, the shops now come every 3 levels. Here's the link for the updated .exe

Thanks AT for the suggestions.
| | | I've finished the 'shareware' version of the game. Those graphics arn't original, your not going to sell it like this are you ?
Anyway, a few bugs :
1) Collision detection is always a little off, but it doesn't work at all near the edges (you can fly right over coins).
2) If you use the map to aim, pointing the arrow directly at a dot doesn't seem to mean that your ship will be pointing at the target ... they are often a little off to one side.
3) I decided to see what the weapons were like and so 'gave' myself a load of extra cash for the first shop. Right at the start of level 4 I came under a barrage of fire but instead of being killed my shield bars shot right off the right hand edge of the screen, and my ship gained invunrability from there on in.

Look familiar? This file is from several years back, don't know where I found it originally.
| | | Your correct, the artwork (at least not the ships) is not all my own. The ship you posted a link to was done by Meshcraft (http://www.dreamsandmagic.com/catalog/index.htm). I asked him for permission to use his meshes (both the main ship, and the first enemy ship are his.) I, of course, plan on giving him credit for his ships. So Yes, I had planned on using the ships in the retail version. I had originally designed some of my own ships, but could never get them to look the way I wanted them too.
1) Yeah, I know collisions still need some tweaking.
2) I can see how collision detection near edges could be an issue. I think that's related to my edge fix I made yesterday. I'll fix that tonight.
3) Hmm, this is the strange one. Did this only happen once? I'll look into it.
Again, thanks for taking the time to test AT. Also, I can send you a version that doesn't have the 7 level limit if you want. (Seeing as how you are helping me greatly with it.)
