RE: 3d tatsuo (12 replies, 0 views) (2000-Jun-7) Hey,
I'm still working on Rahaji, my tile based RPG. It seems like I've been working on it forever, but I think it will be worth it when it's done. I don't know if I agree about 3D destroying a lot of the community. A lot of games have made a smooth transition to 3D, like Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. As for the FF series, FF8 wasn't too good, but that was due to it's weak plot more than anything else. I think that Square really achieved something with 7. While a lot of veteran players on the net seem to think it's stylish to bash it, I don't think anybody can play that game without reaching points where they just say, 'Good God that's cool!'
The only thing I miss about when gaming was confined to sprite based platformers on my Genesis is the hardcore aspect of it. The realism of the graphics, along with Sony's name, have pushed gaming into the mainstream. And the entire industry is suffering the same fate as movies, TV, etc: the crap is becoming abundant. I miss the days when developers were experimenting like crazy, not just pumping out the next 'It looks like Tomb Raider but it's not' game.
Wow, you're still reading?
