I think Jason hit the nail on the head here... He's bang on - the reason all commercial games nowadays are 3D is because 3D is the in thing and 3D SELLS... Games are just part of business and want to sell their products. I personally think 2D games could make at least a bit of a comeback with 5D games (2D using 3D capabilities) - but the game has to look GOOD. I will be working on a 5D engine soon as I get VB5 or VB6 back... :-/ However, all I can say is make a GREAT game engine that can do anything, then make a game and make it play good, then go away and make it look outstanding - and it might just sell on shareware shelves or bargain bins... *lol* :-) Nah, if you do it properly, the 3D doesn't have to be so complicated... I mean, I've seen some screenies S o o p sent me of something he's been cooking up and it's brilliant! Uses D3DRM to do what it does... I wont say what it does exactly in case it's a secret ;-) - but I really think it's ace! Then again, 3D game programming is peasy when you use Genesis3D - look into it - it rools! I'll be willing to help out as much as I can anyone who needs it using that engine - but it's so frigging powerful it's unreal!!! Anyway - lead and they shall follow, make a good game and they shall play it... :-) Gilb.
