Beta7 its ready for Betatesting. New features added:

  • Added a "Time Attack" mode on Mahjongg Puzzle
  • Added a "Memory" game with 3 dificult levels.

Please, read the notes about running the game on WinXP.

The countdown to release the source code has began. Also, we are looking for somebody with better english than me to translate the language files, as well as to get some French, Portuguese, German, etc, translations.

Alpha 7 Update

The Alpha 7 website has been updated with new screenshots and a new wallpaper from the latest build of Alpha 7.

The wallpaper is of the Terran Light Bomber, an advanced prototype developed by Terran engineers with technology from the Mekthran. It features shielding, heavy weapons capable of annihilating large capitol ships like battlecruisers, and a booster system for added speed and maneuvarability.

The screenshots show off the latest engine features, including in-game allies, large coordinated fleet actions, and the latest graphical effects.

VGL 1.1 Released

Hi! VGL has been updated to version 1.1. The notable improvements include the ability to use wide tilesets (it should've been there before, heh), and the easier tilemap editor (now with documentation). Also, there are sample VB6 sourcecodes for graphics, audio and input routines. All in all, I've made some efforts to make VGL easier.

Oh, and the sourcecodes for both the Super Mario VGL and Phantasy Star VGL demos are included... ;-)

** Also, don't forget to re-register the vgl.dll 1.1 version by running setup.exe. You may need Administrator rights as setup.exe copies vgl.dll to the system folder. Programs built using version 1.1 may not run properly with VGL version 1.0 (But don't worry, those written in 1.0 will run fine on 1.1) **

The Wallpaper section of the Universal Hunter homepage now is available! For now the wallpapers are from the Worm Invasion game, but soon will come more.

And don't forget to visit the download section of Universal Hunter after 10th august. New game(s) will be available using brand new features of the engine!

Purple Ogre adventure game maker has new release.

This is the second release of this project by Electric Gremlin Ideas, and will be the last under the name of Purple Ogre, but is being redesigned under a new name. The latest features include clickable hotspots, save game files, auto adjust resolution on program start, and improved file system. Any new releases will be under the project name of Silver Goblin. I expect to have the next release ready between now and december, and should fix pretty much all issues as well as being fully functional.

This is our first "serious" release. Clone Kyodai or Shangai game in "pure" Visual basic source code. Actually game its in beta version, but fully playable. Level Editor supported, Multilingual, sounds, FX and more. New releases comming soon.

Avoid The Freaking Meteoroids is a remake of a japanese game called TKKN. The goal of the game is to survive aslong as possible by avoiding meteoroids which are heading towards you. Very simple, but still fun =)
A small extra release by InvertedMinds as we continue our work on the bigger projects :)

We had promised ourselves we wouldn't be swayed by requests for enhancements on it, but we're just so darned nice that we couldn't help it. VBOgg DLL has been updated. It now lets you toggle between global and local scope, and panning support is included.

New Demo of Final Strike Released

A new, much better demo of the vertical shootemup Final Strike has been released.

This version has better graphics, better compatitibility, better speed, better sound, better firepower, just about better everything! There are 3 levels and 5 of the 12 ships in this demo. The 1st screenshot is of the 4th level which has been finished, but isn't in the demo.

Final Strike is an attempt to merge the intensive, action-packed gameplay of a vertical shooter with the strategy of a tactical shooter and a branching set of levels like in Starfox 64.

It has 12 different ships each with their own weapons systems, 9 special weapons that are picked up as items and a secondary upgradeable system of weapons. So far it has around 70 individual enemies, but when this project is finished the number will probly have doubled. Gameplay is very intensive, but it´s not as simple as other shooters, because there are specific objectives that determine which level you go to next.

Game Thoughts has released WordWars! WordWars is a game written in VB with transparency, alpha blending, skinning, and more. Play a scrabble-like game and use over 50 special words to try to kill your opponent. They're all secret of course, so you'll have to find them during the course of place.

Or, log into the Brainstorm server to play against other people online for free. The Brainstorm server was written with C/C++, showing that a networked TCP/IP game with a VB client is not only possible, but feasible. Come check out WordWars, and download the free demo today.

Aspereta will be going into closed alpha testing on 7/7. Aspereta combines a visual basic client and a C Linux server (for speed:). The closed alpha testing of Aspereta will only contain around 100 items, 100 spells and 100-200 monsters; however we plan to have many more in the beta phase. There will be four playable classes in the alpha phase however that number is planned to more than double in the beta. The purpose of our alpha test is to test the server and find any major bugs, so to see the true colors of Aspereta, you may have to wait until the beta. The screenshots below don't show too much, because we want to surprise people when the time comes:)

You have to defend your inherit, a gold-mine, against the Orc-Troll alliance. But after a while this case is looking pretty desperated. So you have to appeal to the Elves. For this you'll need even more gold ressourses...

6 levels (2 available for now), 5 species (Orc, Troll, Dwarf, Goblin and Elf) to kill and protect and at least 5 type of weapons/spells (rocks, handaxe, crossbow, alchemical bomb, firebolt)

In a wonderful night nasty worms has hinvaded your room. smashing 'em is pretty fun but they keep coming out. There is no end of them... So through their cemetary you'll have to find their "nest" to eliminate them for all..

3 levels(with 3 stages each), 6 type of worms and more things to smash with a hammer.

Two birds with one stone...the Atomic Monks website has been redesigned, and with it we're releasing the vbogg.dll. Use it to play streaming Ogg through your VB application. Example and DLL source code are included.

Desktop Defender 2: Battle For Existance is a modest 2D side-scroller game, (shoot'em up actually ;] ) where you become a laser turret pilot who'll have to defend the Earth from the aliens invading. It features cheery 2d graphics, combined with a non-stopping gameplay action.Lasers and missiles shall fill the low orbit and it's your mission to protect the Earth or face human extermination!!

A new version of YALG, is available for download now, here

Many things have been fixed and added in this new version. Note that this version is just meant for testing only. No levels included this time. You'll have to try the editor yourself, see how much fun it is to make your own levels, and see if any odd bugs appear.

DXRE, or DirectX RPG Engine, is a 2d top-down engine created nearly all from DirectX8 and Visual Basic. It is a free open-source game engine made mainly for rpg, adventure, and action games. You might say that it is like an offline version of ORE 0.5, but with non-tilebased movement, license, and other goody features.
