you'll be needing to set up a clipper for your ICQ problem - the same should happen with any window that you put in front of the render surface...
Then, to sort out the primary surface moving I do believe you need to call something like:
DD.GetWindowRect (might be Dx.GetWindowRect)...
then use the RECT passed back for your coordinates...
