I get the exact opposite... PyroBoy (4 replies, 0 views) (2000-Aug-3) When I first decided to change my trig to lookup tables I made sure to test which one was faster. I did just like you did - fetching sin cos etc values with some obscenely high number of iterations. On my machine the lookup tables were faster than native methods.
Oh well. At the very least, lookup tables allow you to work in degrees without the degree/radian conversion overhead...
