Shadows in D3D Jack Hoxley (8 replies, 0 views) (2000-Jun-25) hi,
I've been planning a game that'll be written in Direct3D - Immediate mode, and will rely very heavily on lighting and shadows.
The person who I was talking to said that there was no way built into D3D-IM to automate shadows. Is this true? I trust him, but I find it slightly hard to believe that MS would make us do all the shading calculations....
Could someone please verify that I have to write my own shadow stuff...
Or (preferably) tell me where I can find some stuff on writing shadow code, or how to get D3D to do it for me...
Many thanks,
Jack.
