Well... PyroBoy (4 replies, 0 views) (2000-Jun-11) It's not that it's wider than the primary surface. In that case, it would stop working at 640 pixels wide, not 2044... And the surface isn't all that tall either. The surface I need is 3600x200. It's being used to store sprite animation cells and only a 100x100 area is blitted at a time.
My old video card was a 1 meg PCI from the mid 90s. It held and blitted from the above surface just fine. My new card's got 8 megs vram and all kinds of acceleration.
So does this mean that if I want to create surfaces in hardware I'll be limiting who can run the game? Is there a certain maximum size video memory surface that all cards support?
