Yet Another Laser Game released Almar (15 replies, 4312 views) (2004-Oct-24) Yet Another Laser Game, or in short YALG has been released. It's written in DirectX8 in combination with VB6.
The aim of the game is to guide your laserbeams through out a map. This maps contains walls, doors, explosives, and a lot more. It's a modern version of those nice laser games from some years back.
Have a look at the demo version. And try to finish those maps, with skill levels ranging from easy to hard!

| | | Yeehaw! Now you have joined the elite ranks of those who have actually, fully, and truly Finished a VB game!
Congrats!
| | | I added YALG to the games list. [:)]
| | | Thank you Eric! I was about to do that yesterday, but forgot [:P]
| | | yup :D great game ;) but i must concentrate in my game now :p
| | | I hope that ice bug is not present here... *sigh* that one sure was a pain..
Oh, and sorry I didn't finish my map. heh, I think I forgot =p
| | | Hey don't you guys think we fellow VB Game Programmers should receive a free bonus full version? [:D]
After all the trouble of bug testing and trying to create maps with the laser being stuck in the ice cubes and everything... (besides, we could do some advertising too [:P])
| | | Just reading the readme now (bet I'm the only person in the world that will ever do this, but whatever) and found some errors: (most are just typos)
In "Playing the game":
The color of the laser should match the color of the laser
I think it ought to be "The color of the target should match the color of the laser", right?
In "How YALG works with colors": (just above the picture)
If you have a whie beam
(should be "If you have a white beam")
In "Inventory":
This numbers indicates the amount of mirrors...
This should be either "This number" or "These numbers"
In "YALG interface explanation":
#2 shows the buttons to: Edit, Run, Turn on/off paint mode [space], Go to the main menu, delete items, and to show the save dialog, respectively in that order.
That's redundant. "respectively" and "in that order" both mean the same thing. (if I'm not mistaken)
In "Ingame objects":
This is the colordoor. The lower bar indicates which color is needed to go through the door. IF the color matches, all beams hitting this door will continue
Not sure if it's supposed to have both letters in uppercase.
This is the teleporter which will teleport the laserbeams that hit this object to the destinatiot object having the same color .
This should be "destination".
In "Map editting":
Rotate objects clockwise with a right-click. Rotate them counter-clock-wise by holding the shift key and right clickin on the object.
This should be "clicking".
Rotate them counter-clock-wise by holding the shift key and right clickin on the object. Inventory
The inventory is the place where the player will drag mirrors from...
This should be a title, so it needs a line break or two.
| | | Just played through the entire demo selection of levels. I managed to complete them all, except: (medium level)
- Little Thinker (this one sure is wrong, it needs a mixer but one isn't available)
- Medium Maze (it may be just me, but whatever combination I tried always one of the targets couldn't be hit. That's the third one from left to right, vertically in the middle, I think)
The two hard ones were fairly easy in my opinion. (altough I've only played two of the entire pack) Maybe I could complete my map and you put it in a "Impossible" folder. [:D]
| | | I will have a look at it VBBR, this afternoon, and fix the typo's. I thought I checked everything well. hm.
| | | VBBR, I've fixed the readme things you mentioned.
I have to disappoint you though. The two maps you gave, ARE possible :). I 'll post something on my own YALG forum about one of them, so I can fill he forums a bit. Empty forums are not good for customers (ask any owner of a restaurant :P)
| | | Oh yeah, they are. My mistake. I though that the divider couldn't be rotated 45 degrees, and that the switch needed a laser of its color so it works. Now I've completed the entire set. [:D]
(now how I wish I could play ALL of the levels...)
| | | You'd want Almar to buy your game, so don't expect him to give HIS to you for free! Hehe...we could all afford to buy it. In fact, we should just to congratulate him and "pay" him back for all the things he's done for the community! Perhaps also because the game isn't that bad and it'll be fun to play!
Three cheers for Almar!
| | | Yes, I have started downloading it... and I will let you know in a week how it plays... for 10mb on a 19.2 dialup will be awhile..
Looks good though and fun...and no I do not remember any old laser games, and I remember owning an atari...oh well... still looks like fun, and I like puzzle games...
I will let you know when I get it...lol
DaBooda out...
| | | How did you determine $8.5 to be the appropiate price tag? Did you take into consideration that some users may think that a low price tag means low quality and a high price tag means high quality?
And by the way; have you sold any copies of YALG yet Almar? :)
| | | One.
I think 8.50 is a nice price. If people think it's cheap or not, etc, I do not really care. This is the price, I've sold one copy, I'm happy. With more copies, I would be more happier, though ;).
1 of every 222 downloads is an order, theoretically.
