There is a "Configure" page to allow you to select the width of your screen. It doesn't work with every page yet. I need to edit everything and add the appropriate variables into the html page.

Thats good, but where did the "profile" link go? I think the "Art Bin" was a good idea too. Looking forward to having VBGamer 2.0 fully implemented!

Not to be annoying again, but it would be good if we could see the big logo in the 1024+ version.

And adding to Lachlan's post, I think it would be better if the width option was in the profile page.

Whatever. Who knows...

The profile page is part of the Snitz Forum (http://forum.snitz.com/) that I use. I have plans to switch from this forum to the custom forum that I made. And when that happens I'll have to migrate global user information to a seperate database. The result will be a custom profile page, and I'll probably make it similar to what gamedev.net has, so that it will display any contributions to the website that you've made, such as news submitted, tutorials, articles, etc.

The Art Bin (do you see the theme? ) will be the continuation of the "royalty free graphics collection." The person that used to maintain it has stopped doing so (actually it's been gone for a quite a long time), so I think it's time to bring the idea back.

As for the big logo, it just doesn't fit when viewing the website on a monitor with 800 x 600 resolution. With the future section for the help bin and art bin displayed, you can see it just barely fits.

Also, the screen resolution option won't ever be on the "profile" page. The profile page is only for people that have an account on VBgamer, so I don't think it would be fare to people that are just browsing the website to be denied the ability to make the website fit in their browser window.

Altough, still I think it would be better for those that ARE registered. Anyway, maybe it wouldn't be worth the trouble.

And I liked the profile-page-with-everything-you've-done too.

Whatever. Who knows...

I like the idea of linking the list of contributions directly to the profile. This will hopefully make it more attractive to write articles, tutorials, post news or contribute in other ways.

Art Bin - great concept! I have at least 50+ MB royalty-free sprites and grahpics that I've spend long hours gathering from distant parts of the internet. Would be nice to have a handy collection of various pieces of visual art such as textures, sprites, backgrounds, characters, tiles etc..

Although I'm looking very much forward to version 2.0 of VBGamer, I find the new layout quite confusing - much more than it is now. On the front page there is just so many different boxes of various sizes that are stacked on top of each other, and in several collums.
Why haven't you made a smaller menu in one of the sides (or even both) with minor content (such as links, gamedev-news etc) and then the main content (that would probably be the news) in the middle.

Ahh well, it's probably just a matter of getting used to it

EDIT: I just gave the new layout a long hard look, and it appeared to me that the layout I descriped is basicly just the current VBGamer-layout all over again. And you actually made menus (sort of), but the where the two minor menus is just grouped in the right-hand side.
I'll just shut up about layout untill the new site and running

In my opinion the new layout is beautiful in terms of organization.

It looks like the new layout is going to be way smaller than the current one. Faster page loads and added functionality sounds good to me.

I'm just glad the site has a dark background. My 17" died reciently so I've been running a 14" in 800x600@75hz. but I had to put the res up to 1024x768@60hz to view this site. :\

As it is even though I ran my old 17" at 1024x768 I still never liked running browser windows heigher than 800x600. And I doubt that'll change much when I get my new 19" monitor, that I'll be running at at LEAST 1280x1024. mabye weven 1600, but I dunno wether it'll be able to do that at a decient refresh rate or not.

I'm using firefox 1.0 preview release btw. ;)

Look at the top menus, In the "Other" category there is a link to Configure. As long as your browser accepts cookies, you can switch the layout to an 800 width resolution.
