Greetz Minion (3 replies, 0 views) (2000-Jun-4) Im back, so to speak. Its been a good while, I havent done much programming lately. Seems as if everything has blown up at once. Little update for anyone who may have been curious about RA. Basically, it is non-existant now. We have our old isometric engine (in the map editor), but I am unable to find the source to the client, which had directmusic, directsound, directdraw routines that were working quite nicely. We had intended to go to a C++ version of RA, with another programmer or two, but after we got the starts of an engine coded, we realized that we had no plan of action. We needed a design plan. Then, our head graphic artist had a few computer problems, which led him to get away from Windows9x and run only linux. RA is a win32 game. He can run vmware, but the cross-platform stuff is kind of fuzzy... The primary coder for the new engine (which was using D3D IM and height mapping for terrain) essentially left, until we come up with a design plan, which nobody has done yet. Our so called "game designer" is never around, doesnt do anything for RA, and is essentially useless to development. (If you're around here lurking CG, sorry).. The future of RA has probably came to a screeching halt. With a recent beta release, I'll be back into coding again, perhaps I'll get back into the scene some, since I havent done any real coding in the past 4 months. Quite a shame.. =[
