Re: 3d Sprites in VB Chris Kline (1 reply, 0 views) (2001-Jun-3) Poser is ok but there are better solutions. I can tell you for a fact that everything you wanna do can be done in 3d studio max. All those games like Diablo 2 and Fallout are all done with max. To get good realistic skinning you need to use the Physique modifyer in max and set it up properly. That on top of a good bones system and a strong knowledge of animating can produce extremely realistic looking stuff. Character Studio is also commonly used with max to aid in animation of complex characters.
Once you have them all animated it can be ported back to a max file and your program can read the file to get the animation data. Take note that most large production houses do not key frame their animations anymore though. They (ehem CHEAT!) use the alternative method of high end motion capture (nice if you've got a couple mill layin around to spend). Hope this helps......
