Re: mo-cap Soop (0 replies, 0 views) (2001-Jun-4) Actually many of the hi-end animators are still doing keyframing, frame by frame sorta stuff. All the major guys like pixar and dreamworks are still using keyframing because not every motion can be mapped from a human.
On the other hand, the people doing the Final Fantasy movie ( i forget)are using a lot of mo-cap, u can see it in the animations.. there is a lot of realism there.
It comes down to style really, some go for a fully animated appeal and some prefer the realism.
Also a lot of those kinda 3d rendered cartoons are using mo-cap basically because it saves time. The capture a heap of motions and reuse them when the need.
Cstudio is really worth checking out tho, it comes with mo-cap data too which is fun to check out. Not to mention its a very handy tool. (its 3dsmax plugin, not a standalone program btw) |
