Basically, I think due to the recent downtimes and dubious nature of VBGC, the community, once focused here has fallen apart. I mean, VBexplorer has always been a solid meaty site, but personally it's a bit TOO packed that I don't like to navigate through it many times. VoodooVB's always been, same with my site (which, like everyone else, has started picking up news to do), Jack's VB site houses the most tutorials but it's not exactly a communal gathering spot. Amorano, from his previous work at OGRE and the few emails, we've exchanged seems a really promising candidate with this new automated site, vbdirectx.com. Plus the fact that he seems to be a veteran in promoting websites, which is basically my weakness. However, with that all said, it depends on which site the users will like best, personally, I'm going for short punchy to the point for news, which i'm going to try with my site once i start my first news item. I mean, Codeworld picked up VERY well, being the first submission site, however, server problems killed that otherwise i'm sure it would have taken a vital role already. A merging of vb sites may sound good, but some people liek to keep their own works, others are really fussy about thigns (me) and groupwork over the net is relatively poor (check out the community game project)... a merging of messageboards, i think someone mentioned it once; every site should have their own messageboard from the community of people going there. Merging SOME messageboards might be good, cuz there are WAY too many but a massive join? NO. I mean, vbdx forum gets 300 posts a month, i don't wanna scroll thru 300+ posts on a monthly basis. I'm tempted to do a shameless ad plug for my site but that's been tried and done, i'll pass.
