Seriously, I don't think the site should sell things.
I think you mis understood me here. I meant sales for things related to the site, not using the visual basic and Dx name licenses. My Gamedev.net tee-shirt is very kool and was only $20, and says nothing about directx, opengl, visual basic, visual C++, borland C, etc... on it.
I was thinking of external means to justify site maintance and self-government, without the use of banner ads, which really don't turn a large profit to maintain a good site on a good server, unless you get 200,000 + hits a month.
