RE: Ads David Goodlad (9 replies, 0 views) (2000-Nov-19) I have a reason for running ads on my site. I run the server out of my room, and try and get as much out of free services as I can, but not everything is free. My two domain names which USED to be free are now going to cost me at least $35 EACH to 're-register'. I need a little extra income to cover that cost; I am not exactly a rich kid. I won't discuss my exact financial situation here, because most of you probably don't even care, but just know that without the ad revenue the black hole would die within a week or two, VBGC would have to find a new home, along with VB Gamer's Haven, VB Game Planet, and Tristan's new site VB-Scene.
Please don't complain about the fact that I run ads on my sites, most people like me have learned to tune them out completely anyway, so why even notice them?
As for your comments about site integration, I agree with you, there are too many sites out there for too small a group of people. The idea has come to me a couple times of asking people to join up with vbgc or tbh, but I just don't feel right about it. If someone were to email me and ask if we could join up under a completely new name/site, I'd likely be perfectly willing to do that. But... I don't know... We'll see what happens.
