Have a look at Ultima Online, when you buy it you get free 'playing time' after that you've got to pay for it. Not sure how much a month, but assume $12 Dollar. Having 200 players or so, playing for a year. 200*(12*12) = $28800 p/y. Could live with that. Okay, many games are copied & cracked lately, but if you add a fancy checksum system it's practically impossible... Lionhead's Black&White will be a real bestseller...
