RE: Okay! Here goes! Corre (8 replies, 0 views) (2000-Oct-18) I switched because I sincerely thinks that C++ sucks. The reason it is industry standard is NOT that C++ is IN ANY WAY better than VB. It is because of tradition, that C++ has been around for so long that a lot of programmers knows it, while VB is a very new language. Back in the old days, when there was no directx/hardware support, you actually needed the xtra speed of C, but you rearely do these days.
I just recently got myself a job as a game programmer. I had no exams to show, just some work samples in VB. Yeah that's right only VB code to show, plus my word that I knew C++, and this got me a job as a 3d programmer for a game company. I won't be writing in VB at my new job (can't be having different languages, especially not when the other coders don't know VB), so I'll just have to put up with C++.
