The return to VB... DX7 (D3D IM) Marek Mikulec (5 replies, 0 views) (2000-Jun-23)

Hello everyone, Wow it's been a while since I opened up Visual Basic (Way back in 3.0 was the last time). I need to code up some in house gave development tools, and since MFC causes cancer of the colon, I'm avoiding it like the plague. So, I turn to Java. No support (it seems). Next best thing, Visual Basic. So I have a couple questions before I dive in: 1) Exactly how closely coding D3d IM in the latest version of VB compare in fundamental operation and handling of Direct3d Immiediate mode in VC++? (I mean COM wise, structure wise, data type wise) 2) Does DirectX in VB have exactly the same capability that it does in VC++? 3) Is VB still insanely slower than VC++? 4) Does VB have pointers yet? If not, what to do? Treat objects like I treat them in Java? 5) Anyone have anyu good website URLs that could help me out (besides this one of course, basic-->advanced)? Thank for all your help, Marek
