Is it right to have a copyright on those screenshots if it's using a stolen tileset?

We give credit to those who have made the tiles!

Yeah, but giving credit isn't much without permission first just to let you know.

Honestly, we do not know who made the tiles but they are soon to be replaced when we find a 2D artist.

/* Is it right to have a copyright on those screenshots if it's using a stolen tileset? */ Anything that is made using someone else's copyrighted material is considered derivitave of the original author's work, and is thus their copyright. If the author of those tiles maintains a copyright on them, you're screwed. ;) /* We give credit to those who have made the tiles! ... Honestly, we do not know who made the tiles ... */ Ooooook.... >.>

To be honest I have rarely seen any game in vb, that has original tilesets... Face it folks, we are programmers not artists.... but if you need a 2d artist... EMail me and we will discuss what you need... I'm not profiecent with chartacters, but as for landscape, I consider myself decent....

Very cool. I am just wondering why most of the mmorpg vb coder are aiming for a 32x32px character sprite thingy. Wouldnt it be better using biggest character and tilesets to make it look more modern? Keep up the good work :)

Modern Smodern........ Bring back the old school......... 16 color glory...... weeeeee... On second thought don't...... but I do like the 32x32 tileset the best... although alot can be said for 16x16 even... DaBooda Out...

The other thing thats copyright is the way they've changed the main bar at the bottom. This originally was from Diablo. They have added changed it so that they are hands.

Diablo can not copyright the layout of a game and if you look at our screenshot versus a Diablo Screenshot it is way different. Anything else you guys which to complain about?

Oh sure, I could complain about the fact that you made this post while the game was unavailable to download and try out. Couldn't wait just a few more days, huh?

Whew... I was going to post something in production to see if anybody was interested in it, and see if it was even worthwhile to keep the project going... I'm glad I did not, you guys are ruthless.. DaBooda out... P.S. 16 color glory, weeeeeeee!!

Don't let us discourage you Patrick, I was just posting an opinion which is strictly personal, I still like your screenshots very much. Maybe I played to much odyssey online back in the da>Used that's why 32x32 sprites are too familiar :) Wish you luck!

I can't do graphics much either, but I try. I find it helpful to first write a tile editing program. Then make the tiles in that :) See if you're like me, you want to make everything you use to make your game. Be it your own tiles, or your own tiles made in your own tile editor. That might be pushing it. But still, I'm doing games in QBasic which is even more ghetto so I have no room to talk.

Qbasic ROCKS!!!! Truly... its a great language... It should be a requirement for all Game Programmers to program in it for 3 months... you will earn a whole new appreciation for vb... DaBooda out...
