KainWares DirectX8.1 Tile Engine version 0.1.6 has just been released. ([url]http://www.kainware.tk[/url] ) Maps loading from a map file Current features include:
  • Data loading from external files
  • Smooth Scrolling
  • unlimited map size
  • Vertice Lighting
  • Alpha Blending
  • 2 Layers
  • Shadows on second layer objects
  • Support for images up to 512*512
  • Ability to load TileSets
  • DirectX8 Sound support
  • DirectX8 Music support

Do you generate those shadows on the fly or do they have to be pre-created? In any case, looks like a cut above the average glut of rpg tile engines, so good job, keep it up =)

Reading GFX Positions from ini is bad. The ReadField Function won't work on all regional settings. The rest looks nice, and got nice effects. Good Work

Thanks, I have devised a fix for the problem, I will work out percentages during load time..will slightly decrease initial load, but will stop these annoying tile loading errors occuring.
