The reason this happens could be that your computer is just too slow. What type of computer do you have? See, for some peculiar reason the first time I actually played the main game loop it ran way too slow. After I died and played again the speed was fine. So I coded it to restart if the elapsed time between the start and end of the main loop was too big. On my computer it does the loading screen, flashes, then does the loading screen again, then plays. I haven't tested this on many other computers so that might just be it. Thanks for telling me!
