Just curiuos what people think about the new tidbits comming from nintendo and there next gen console. The fallowing quote was taken from the nintendo web site http://www.nintendo.com/newsarticle?articleid=02ea1a40-ac09-4cdf-9548-91e5a4e78746&page=

quote:
Freedom of design: A dynamic development architecture equally accommodates both big-budget, high-profile game “masterpieces” as well as indie games conceived by individual developers equipped with only a big idea.

So what does everyone here think about the posibility of nintendo opening the doors to indie developers with there next gen console. I think it is way cool, especilly if they pull it off. Everyone here can just imagine the indie developer comunity that would spawn from this. Not to mention the games, and such that would be created for it.

From the quote "high-profile game “masterpieces”" you have to believe that they are eluding to such games as catamari damashi...

I think it is a great move for Nintendo, and I beleive they are right, the next-gen consoles don't have anything creative just higher specs and more ports to plug things in :P
A game doesn't play good when all it is, is shiny graphics. the Indie games would add one more reason why I will buy the Rev first. Now what would add to this is to be able to by Dev Kits for regular home users (with programming skill) :-D I love to just program a simple little game on a console, always wanted to do that :)

I have to agree. Just look at the contest winner on my web site. A simple game like TAttack is very addictive. I played that game more then all the other game entries combined! http://contest.createdbyx.com/

BTW: The contest is now over and the winner declared. You can see the other game scores at the contest web site.

Old because you bought a SNES? What must that make me, then? Not only have I owned 2 SNES decks over the years, I actually owned 2 different NES decks (one when it was first released)! Oh, and did I mention the Atari 2600?

Phff, I think I got you all beat. Atari 2600, 2 NES systems, 2 SNES systems, Sega Game Gear system, Original Game boy, Game boy advance SP, N64, GameCube, Playstation, PS2, and even had a Turbografix 16! lol. Not including accessories, like the super scope, game genies, N64 mem upgrade, and snes game boy adapter. .... hmmm, ... all this remembering back is making me feel old. (>Shivers<)

I had a Mega Drive (Genesis), a Saturn and a PSX... I also got a strange combo of Genesis and Sega CD in one device. I never really liked Nintendo

Whatever. Who knows...

I mean "old" in that the SNES was the last console I ever owned. I don't have anything current. And in terms of old systems, we have an Intellivision, so I've got you all beat.
