im thinking of making a remake of super smash bro's but im having a hard time find a good engine, or wrapper for DX8, I would do it from scratch but I am not the best with dx, I can do a little, but a wrapper would be good, but an engine would be better, especially one that has good features, anyone know of a good on that can do platformers fairly simple, I got most of everything planned out, but as I said dx8 is fairly new to me...

thanks.

My suggestion is to try either BlitzBasic or DarkBasic

With those tools you can avoid DirectX altogether and focus on creating your game.

If you know VB, I would suggest using DaBooda Turbo... it was developed by MasterBooda, a member of this forum.

You should be able to find it here: http://www.vbgamer.com/msgboard/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=190

It's fairly easy to use and you can get the sourcecode to see how everything works as well... plus it has quite a few tutorials to get you going.

I was looking at dabooda, but last I tried to get to his website, it wasnt loading, but ill take a look again, thanks...
doesnt work, anyone know where I can download it?
nevermind, I found it.

I already have DarkBasic, but I cant seem to get it to do what I want, and instead of learning too many things, I decided to go with VB since I already know alot of it.

Our DXGame engine would suit this kind of project fairly well. It's an extremely high level engine that yields impressive results. We're in the final stages of development (FINALLY!). Stop on by and check out the demos and keep an eye out for the release.
