If you check tiobe's index for August 2006 at

http://www.tiobe.com/tiobe_index/index.htm

You will see that there is a surge of activity of Visual Basic in the internet.

The webmaster thinks that the sudden surge is caused by Microsoft releasing the new VB as Visual Basic 2005 rather than VB.Net 2005.

But even if so, if we check the difference between June 2005 and the present rating of Visual Basic, it'll show a solid 5 point difference. If we accept his explanation of the sudden surge of VB, then the 5 point difference is for VB.Net (or Visual Basic 2005) alone.

That will make VB.Net rank at around the level of Perl-- clearly surpassing C#(only at 2.6).

This only shows the internet activity with Visual Basic in it. It's not about being the best language or with the most lines of code.

But still, has the Visual Basic community regaining momentum?

Yes. Because we're still clinging to Classic VB. We're not counted.

Hehe, Visual Basic is now sitting between C and C++. VB is rising fast and C# and C++ is slowly dropping. C# has a long way to climb to gain on vb's 3rd spot.

Any other version than VB4/5/6 simply didn't give me the same feeling than those :).

Not sure about the vb gaming community. if so, then it's far from this site. Since MS doesn't supply VB code anymore with the DirectX SDK, that's kind of their way of saying they really don't care about the language anymore.
