Hey Gilb, are you using my D3D for 2D module, or are you making you own?
If you want to download my 3D for 2D module, with a demo program showing you how to use it, (including alpha-blending), then goto my site <http://freeridedesign.cjb.net> its only in the news section at the moment, but I'll add it to the downloads page soon. Even if you don't want to use my module, its a good start to using D3D for 2D.
