Hi rag, well the SW Synth device, is Microsofts software wave table, basically it uses custom instruments and plays through the wave device (not the midi device). It uses their own instruments instead of the instruments on the sound card. So basically in most cases, it will tie up the wave device, which sndPlaySound will use to play the sound. So what can you do about it ?? Buy a better sound card, with better on-board instruments =) HTH Adam
