I have 3d studio max 2.5, I love it's interface, I can model anything in it, but I do not have the money to get character studio, and as I recall, v2.5 doesn't have the skin modified to apply the bone structure to the mesh. Over my little vacation, I thought about creating my own modeler in DirectX 8, but I quickly found out, that isn't feasable. Poser? I don't like it at all, the characters are very customizable.
