"I would recommend that sticking all this into a huge DB where you expect a lot of visitors you get away from php. SQL server or Oracle come to mind. Major traffic = major database."
PHP is *not* a database! It's a scripting language... I use MySQL as the db server right now, which is proven to be incredibly robust unless you're as big as something like a major search engine or something - which just won't happen, as much as we'd all like to hope.
