The VB-IDE is slower than an EXE, right ?? Jack Hoxley (4 replies, 0 views) (2000-Oct-28)

hold on. the VB-IDE is supposed to be slower than a compiled (for speed) EXE. That has always been the case..... hasn't it? I've just compiled a version of my game (just a front-end now) and in the IDE i get 115-140 fps (1024x768x32) yet I only get 63-66fps fom the compiled EXE... thats got to be wrong.... where are my 40-80fps going???? All my animations are time based (rather than frame based) and they are noticably smoother in the IDE compared with the EXE - so I'm sure it isn't a screwed up reading... I've tried all the compiler options - on and off and I still cant get any speed out of it.... please help :) Jack;
