Gifs and such in games. Wader (3 replies, 0 views) (2000-May-3)

Well, so far I have only found the best compression for game graphics are GIF files.. I havent found any other, and it is naturally readable by VB and DirectX. However, someone said that there is a fee to use GIF files in products.. but... my question is this.. the dude who made Graal Online uses GIF files and dont have to fork out any money to use it...... anyways, if you know if this is ok, or if there is another format for graphics that I should use.. However, I will definately not use any external DLLs or OCXs, since the more external dependecies you have, the more likely that you game or product will not work on some poor guys mashine... So I would need like a Code snippit or class or BAS file to read whatever format needed..
