VB is great, C++ is great. VB will never be able to beat C++ in the 3D speed department though without some radical changes and then you might as well use C++.. Can you see Q3A running as a VB app? Maybe at 10 fps. What right do I have to make this statement, you ask? I've been doing VB programming for over 10 years. It was a VB game that got me my job in the game industry. I've been coding in C++ for about 6 years. VB just doesn't give you the kind of power that C++ does, no matter what anyone says. VB is great for what it was made for - RAD. It's now great for smaller 2D games since the hooks to DirectX were added. I'll always use VB, but if you want a job as a programmer in the game industry, learn C++.
