Aye, I agree C++ is the work of satan Corre (2 replies, 0 views) (2000-Oct-17) C++ really IS evil. Of all languages I have used, C++ is one of the worst. It is totally inconsistent, incoherent, inconsequent, unstable, strange looking and right out clumsy language.
I have worked professionally as both a C and C++ programmer, and I know the language well. And honestly it stinks big time.
I would still recommend anyone to learn it though, because a majority of programmers use it (especially in the games industry) and it is an invaluable thing to be able to speak in the same terms. And most good examples and books you find will use C++.
It is also a good thing to use C++ from VB, because of the speed. If you're looping through large arrays (as in image manipulation) VB can't beat C++ in speed. But developing a full game in C++ is just plain stupid, because the speed increase you get is not worth the extra development time (YES it takes longer to develop in C++. If it didn't, a majority of the business world wouldn't be switching over to VB to gain development time and get a shorter Time-to-Market).
Even if I work with C++, I will go on using VB in my spare time. VB isn't perfect either, but it is a much more consistent than C++, and it will be much better with the next release (7) when they change what should have been changed from the start, and remove what shouldn't have been there in the first place.
