No, you don't need the MFC (Microsoft Foundation Classes). You can
programm everything without them, but some things are easier to do with
them...some C++ programmers love the MFCs others hate them. That's a
question of taste. ;)
For game projects, I don't use them. I only use them if I have to do windows GUI
programming.
