RE: C++ is evil Torsten Damberg (0 replies, 0 views) (2000-Oct-16) O.K. but, don't be afraid of the TrueVision engine: It is not going to be C++.
There will be two versions of the TrueVision engine, a VB version an a C++ version.
I know this, because I am one of the guys that port TrueVision to C++. ;)
You are right, VB is very powerful. It is the best choice for many things.
But there are a lot of things that are heavy to do or impossible for VB
(such as some Shell Extensions, Service programming, Drivers etc.)
But as I said, combine these things and you've got a real weapon. :)
For those pointers: You've got something like them in VB too, but you don't
recognize that. References are nearly the same as pointers. But pointer
handling in VB is much easier than in C++ (O.K. it is very easy in C++ too, of you
once get the point ;)
Don't care about that C++ evolution that comes to the VB community,
We will all have a profit of it, even the guys that don't know any C++.
So let's all write great stuff in VB and C++ and make a real experience for those
game freaks out there that want to play really cool games (they don't care
what language it was written in :)
With best wishes,
