My system is an upgraded k6-2 333 (formerly a P-100) 80MB 60ns FP RAM (ugghhhh!) 8MB ATI Rage Pro and I get 60 fps usually, but I limit based on the screen refresh...still trying to get a better animation technique in. It is usually pretty smooth as long as Windows is not cutting in or other progs are running. It might be a bit fast if your screen refresh is higher than 60Hz. I know I need to add lives, levels, menus, etc...just waiting for some more of that rare spare time. The opening music is some mp3 I got when I wasn't even looking for it, it said Star Wars Metallica.
