For the "shaolin soldier" bit of the story, are you referring to the Chinese monks or ... ? Like those bald guys... And joypad/stick control might be a bonus :P K, this might be going a bit far, but how about a double jump? OR use the jump off walls thing to have bits where u climb up a chiminey type thing.. All in all, a nice well flowing game (albeit a bit fast)
