Well, it depends...have you ever programmed before at all? If not, you should definately paruze (spelling?) through the book and at least get an idea of what functions are available and at least a jist of what they do, what kind of parameters they take, and what's returned...however, not all these functions will be used, so that's why I recommend just browsing through the book to get a basic idea. If you just jump into game programming, you will find that you'll require many of these basic VB functions, but won't know that they're available...
