If the businesses like the ASP idea it'll stay - screw the home consumer. A business is much more important - they invest $20,000 a year to run their network; M$ will like that more than 1000 home people buying a computer (no where near as much profit)....
y'see - we're not the important side of this - business and money is.
Until the ASP idea is running deep - and everybody/almost eveybody is using it software will be released in both forms. I'll put my money on the fact that we'll still be buying out own hard-copies of software in 5 years time - and at the same time people can also hire out the ASP copy of the software.....
Either way - we've got a few years yet..
