Say what?? I have maps up to 3200x2400!!!!! and 32x32! You must be doing something wrong....
As for keeping a characters place on a map.... well, that would mean I would have make a map array per pixel and not tiles..
that would take up too much resources to be playable here....
Nope... you store your char position in pixels, but the tiles in the usual way... you just convert the char values to the tiles values before checking for collision.
As for collision detection, ive tried just about every one out there.. including Luckys, to no avail.. his never worked for me so.....
