You wanted to see how it would be done through someone's source code. I'd help, but I am pretty busy with the RPG-Creator and it takes up a lot of time, so I'll give you a link that goes to one. Someone made demos with something called ASprite that uses map tiling with freeform. The file is pretty big (I think 2.3 MB) and it comes with source code.
